Celebrating Our Anniversary with Téja Veal

By: Dino Monoxelos

I’ll never forget the first time I met Téja! It was at Winter NAMM, and I was working the Ampeg booth, as I had done for many years prior. Téja, with her soft, sweet southern voice, approached me and asked if I was Dino, the “Ampeg guy,” and if I might be able to help her with some Ampeg gear for an upcoming tour she was doing for—get this—Janelle Monáe!

Who knew that this soft-spoken young lady was such a badass bassist and vocalist as well? The rest, as they say, is history. We’ve had the honor of working with Téja and calling her part of the Ampeg family ever since.

Téja Veal has been gracing the world with her versatile and dynamic bass playing, becoming an inspiration for aspiring musicians. She has excelled in a wide range of styles, from jazz and funk to R&B and gospel.

From her time with Janelle Monáe all the way through to her latest tour with Lil Yachty, Téja has always insisted on having Ampeg along for the ride. She’s also been a guest on a couple of live SVT Times and has helped Ampeg celebrate International Women’s Day.

So, as we celebrate our 75th anniversary, it only makes sense to have Téja share with us (and you) what Ampeg and the future of bass amplification mean to all of us as bass players. Ampeg is proud to be a part of Téja’s musical journey. Please enjoy Téja’s 75th Anniversary video message and some highlights of the time we’ve spent with her.
